Wallonia is a Belgian region known for its cultural heritage and beautiful nature with vast forests and quick rivers. It also used to be a center of heavy industry that once brought prosperity to the region but had been in decline for a long time now. Apart from untouched nature and the industrial remains there are also authentic agrarian landscapes.
My “Winter Mediation” photo series explores the quiet beauty of the fields and hills around the Walloon village of Haute Bodeux in the wintertime. Covered in snow, this landscape reveals purity of lines and mood reminiscent of the famous winter painting by Pieter Breughel. It feels as if the time stood still here for centuries. The soft outlines of the hills and woods combined with a delicate palette of understated colors invite a peaceful and meditative mood.
